Beyond 7 minutes

I trained as a Family Doctor so that I would be ready to help patients with any challenge. The old school family doc used to take that skill set out into the community on house calls, sports sidelines, and town hall meetings. At some point the job description was boiled down into a job that started and ended with a 7 minute office visit. That setup is not good for patients, and it's not good for doctors. In this column I hope to start to push the boundary of where the doctor patient interaction takes place - onto the page, into the community, and beyond 7 minutes.

Food As Medicine - 1/14/20

This is the second in a series of community health forums. This one will focus on food as medicine. The first event last November was very well attended. Based on feedback we have condensed the format from 120 minutes to 90 minutes. We will again have some light refreshments. There will be valuable information for anyone interested in using food to feel their best, but especially people interested in losing a few pounds or treating high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood sugar. The event is free and open to the public so feel free to bring a friend.
